If you're choosing between flights, the airport you fly from can make a big difference to your journey from Ashford. Here's how the five London airports compare by road.

## The five airports at a glance

- **London City (LCY):** about 58 miles, usually around 1 hour 20 minutes. Fares from £80.
- **Gatwick (LGW):** about 62 miles, usually around 1 hour 10 minutes. Fares from £90.
- **Stansted (STN):** about 86 miles, usually around 1 hour 35 minutes. Fares from £130.
- **Heathrow (LHR):** about 89 miles, usually around 1 hour 45 minutes. Fares from £120.
- **Luton (LTN):** about 100 miles, usually around 1 hour 55 minutes. Price on request.

Fares are starting prices for a saloon, one way. Drive times are typical and depend on traffic.

## Closest: Gatwick and London City

Gatwick and London City are the shortest drives from Ashford. Gatwick is reached via the M20, M25 and M23. London City is the closest by distance, via the M20 and A2, though the last few miles run through east London traffic.

## North of the Thames: Stansted and Luton

Stansted and Luton are both north of the river, so the route crosses the Thames at the Dartford Crossing. That's the stretch where delays build up, so we allow extra time on these runs.

## Heathrow

Heathrow is a long run round the M25, but it's often worth it for the choice of flights. Read our [Heathrow guide](https://www.goldstartaxisltd.com/blog/heathrow-from-ashford-guide) for timings and booking tips.
